The median price of a condo on the Big Islandd in Marchwas $307,250, which was a 40 percent drop from the same montnh in 2008, when the median pricde was $515,000. Those figures were based on salexs of 24 unitsin March, a 51 percent drop from 49 saleas in March 2008.
Sales for the first quarter of the year were off by more than 46 percenytfor condos. Just 52 sales were recordeed from Januarythrough March, down from 97 salee during the first quarter of 2008. The media n price of a condo for the first quartefwas $282,500, a 42 percent drop from the firstg quarter of 2008, when the mediajn condo price was $485,000. The number of single-family homes sold from January through Marcb was down 23 percent from the previous with 229 homes sold during the firstg quarter of 2009 compared to 296 houses sold during the same periodxlast year.
The median price of a Big Island single-family home during the first quarter was a 24 percent drop from the first quarter of 2008, when the median pric e was $375,000.
