Galen College relocating satellite campus - Business First of Louisville:

The move will bring the campu within a mileof Galen’s main administrativr offices on Zorn Avenue and will give students betterd access to parking, according to Joe the college’s executive vice president and CFO. Galen’s new 13,300-square-fooft facility at 2704 River Green Circlre will housefive classrooms, a clinical learning laboratory, a studenty lounge and administrative office space. The college planse to be in the new locationby Aug. 1, Peters The facility will be built out during the nextfew months, and a 220-spaced parking lot will be constructed for students behinxd the building.
Peters said Galejn has leased about 14,0090 square feet in the Chestnut Centres Plaza at612 S. Fourthb St. since 1994. Its lease will expird this summer. Galen leases about 35,009 square feet, according to in the four-story Galen Centedr at 1031 Zorn Ave., near Rivee Road and Interstate 71. The colleged has been in that locationsince 2005. Over the it has become “difficult to operate two campuses thatfar apart,” Peter s said. The college considered consolidating its localp operations at the Zorn Avenue sitebut didn’t have enough parking he added. Parking also has been a problejm forstudents downtown, Peters said.
They oftenn complain of having topay $5 to $7 a day when they come to the Fourthh Street site. Galen has more than 700 studente locally, Peters said. The college, founded in 1990 by , also has campusesa in Cincinnati, Tampa, Fla., and San Antonio, Texas. there are more than 2,100 students. The Chestnutt Centre is managedby . Jim Fox, a partnerd with FBM, said Galen has been a “wonderfulp tenant,” and he understands the reasons behinthe college’s plans to move from downtown. Fox said he is talkingg with two different groups interestedr in leasing theGalen space.
