"Right now certification and engineering consulting is fuelingour long-term dreams," says Kevin Reifschneider, the company's vice presideny of engineering and certification.
Founded in May 1999 by formetr Bombardier employees Phil Rodney Gorges, Joel Weber and Millennium Concepts does the design work on large and smalo business jets for cabinetry, seating, galleys and otherr aircraft interior projects. It also does some engineering and certification work on exterio r aircraft components such as sophisticated antenna systems forreconnaissance Holland, president of Millennium Concepts, says this for the first time, the compan will post sales of $1 million.
"It'sx been our best year since we've started," Holland "It seems like the marke t for what we do is picking Sinceits launch, Millennium Concepts has had cumulative salezs of more than $3 million and done work on larged corporate and military aircrafgt ranging from Boeing 737s to 747s. It's also done completion work on six smaller business jets in thatsame period. Hollanr and Gorges, director of completions engineering, say the sales total should increaseto $4 million with the additiobn of a $500,000 completionz job on a Boeinh 767 and potential work on an Airbusd A320. Millennium Concepts partners say they will occupt most of thenew building's 6,000 square feet of officer and 7,000 square feet of shop space. Korte Aerospace, which is a structural engineerin g firm that also offers Federal Aviation Administratio n certified designated engineering representative is expected to leaser 250 square feet ofoffice space. LJSC, whicj specializes in engineering completionas work for aircraft electrical andavionics systems, planw to occupy 350 square feet of office spacse and about 1,500 square feet of shop space. "The biggestt thing is we'll be under the same roof and complement their mechanical engineering saysWoody Cottner, LJSC's founder.
Hollandr and Reifschneider say theremaining 5,500 square feet of shop spacr will give Millennium Concepts room for a flammabilit laboratory and structural testing of aircrafr interior components. It will also give the compan space to expand into research and development of new aircraff components as well as the manufacturingof "We'll have all the tools in place to developo our own products," Reifschneidert says. Reifschneider, Holland and Gorges won't disclose specificas of the products they intend to develop and manufactur e forcompetitive reasons. They expect that new piece of the businessw to push an expansion of the new which sitson 2.5 acrea the company owns.
