Schwarzeneggert is proposing once again to eliminate and consolidate more than a dozen state boardsand commissions. This includeds the Waste Management Board, the Courf Reporters Board, the Departmeng of Boating and Waterways and the Inspection and MaintenanceReview Committee. Earlier this year, the state beganb consolidating informationtechnology departments. Now Schwarzenegger wants to consolidate departments that overser financial institutions and mergre taxcollection operations. In July, state leaders will receiv e recommendations on how to modernize thetax code.
“Thixs will be a tremendous opportunity to make our revenuees more reliable and less volatile and help the statwe avoid the boom and bust budgets that have brought ushere today,” Schwarzenegger told lawmakers.
